I got my Mosh just under 2 months ago, and I've put over 900 miles on it so far.

I ride 80% paved trail and road, mixed flat and hilly, and 20% dirt and gravel trail. But I don't ride rough or steep mountain bike trails. The dirt and gravel I ride are flat and smooth multi-use pedestrian trails. I ride mostly daytime, and a little at night. I adjusted the headlight up just a little bit from how it came. All the lighting on the bike is awesome. It's fun to ride at night.

I don't ride the bike hard, but it is a Mosh, and I do probably ride it a bit harder than a commuter bike. But I certainly don't ride it as hard as the guy in the Serial 1 videos, with his super-high jumps. I don't even jump off curbs unless I really have to. I weigh 220 pounds. I use power assist 3 most often, sometimes dropping down to 2 or up to 4.

I'll list all issues I've had. Most are minor.

The brakes make a lot of noise. If you don't "bed in" the brakes, they can squeal quite loudly. And even if you do, they make a lot of other weird noise. I am told that this is all normal for large mountain bike brakes, which these are.

I lost the cover for the charging port. I don't know if I forgot to put it on or just didn't seat it well, but one day it was gone. Serial 1 support sent me a new one for free.

I broke a spoke on the rear wheel. I don't know how. I don't jump or otherwise abuse the bike. (But I would think it could handle the occasional jump?) It snapped right at the nipple. My local bike shop replaced it for me and retrued the wheel. They said the spokes were all a lot more tight than they liked, and maybe that's why one popped. Serial 1 support said this is "normal wear" and it is not covered under the warranty. So that "24 month for all components" they say in the warranty apparently doesn't apply to spokes.

All 4 reflectors on the pedals flew off or broke off over time. Good riddance as far as I am concerned.

Recently while riding on a couple mile stretch of gravel road, the motor started making a new vibration sound. I'm not sure what is causing it. It doesn't sound good, but I can't be sure. I wonder if it is dust and dirt intrusion into the motor. I now regularly take the battery out and use an air compressor to blow out all the dirt that gets inside there. There is no seal around the battery and a lot of dirt gets inside the motor compartment. This seems like it will be a serious problem long term. I am thinking I should get some weather stripping and figure out how to seal it better. I wonder what would happen in a heavy rain?

This is an ebike, so I've put a lot of miles on it in a short amount of time. I love the bike. It is a lot of fun. But it has developed some squeaks and creaks. And I wonder if I will completely wear it out in just a couple years. Interestingly the tires show no wear so far.

Quirks. Sometimes when I turn it on, I'll start to ride and have no peddle assist. I'll look at the controller and it is flashing a red LED. I turn it off and back on, and then it works. I think maybe this is because I have moved it before it was ready. Perhaps the accelerometer for the brake lights needs to acclimate for a few seconds? Then sometimes when I turn it off I get the group of white and blue LEDs letting me know I can let go of the button, and sometimes I don't. I'm not sure why this happens.

So knowing what I know now, would I still have bought this bike? Yes. The only thing I would have done differently is wait to order it on Memorial Day weekend to get it for 400 bucks less. Would I order it now, for the increased price of $3800? I don't know. I don't think so. I worry that Harley is going to price themselves right out of business on these bikes, like they likely are doing with the LiveWire. Hopefully I'm wrong. It would be a shame if these bikes disappeared.

Wow sounds like your having a great time. I agree the battery doesn’t seal with the opening and water could easily get in during a heavy rain. A cheap protection method is to use Glad Press-n-Seal one side of it is sticky press it on and your good to go.

Revisiting my own post. Looking back, my review was mostly negatives. Recently I've had the chance to ride a completely different style of ebike, an Aventon Aventure, Class 2, hub motor, "cadence" sensor rather than torque. Wow. Now I really appreciate Serial 1 even more. The overall quality, and feel, and experience is just better all around. The torque sensing mid-drive is so much more natural. It just feels like you are pedaling a bike, but have super-human strength. Whereas the hub motor is loud and clunky and unnatural. It doesn't feel like a bicycle. Don't get me wrong. The Aventon is a fun bike, and good for what it is. But the Serial 1 just feels so much better to ride.

Yup,real nice machines no one else makes for sure.Cat smooth and fast( for a bicycle). Knowing what I know about lipo cells you want air circulation around the battery. These along with the motor need to disapate heat, heat disapation equals longevity, smothering your battery and motor is not a good idea. Been a R C nut since I was a kid...

Good point MITT. Hadn't thought of that. And I never got around to sealing the battery compartment so all's good. I've strapped some plastic fenders on it for winter (wet) riding, and don't actually ride while it's raining, so I haven't had any trouble thus far.

I bought my Mosh/City 11/27/21. Rode it in Florida all winter took it back to Illinois in the spring, rode it sparingly throughout the summer. Last fall I took the battery out for the winter, charged it and left the battery inside. I brought it back to Florida this month Feb/23. Put the full charged battery back in and the bike will not turn on. Appears Serial 1 customer service is now non-existent. Still under warranty. Phone number refers you to submitting issues online. For a quality/expensive bike, this is bull shit. Now I sit and wait for a reply. The cheaper ebikes have better customer service.

I bought my mosh city last fall and have a great time when ever I get out. No doubt a quality built and designed bike.
I thought that I would struggle with the single speed but I really like it’s efficiency in that you can turn assist off on most down hill runs and some flat runs. 16mph max pedal speed is ok with me on the rail trails.
I had to replace the street tires and I added a suspension seat post which is a game changer in comfort. Greatly increased my range on bumpy crushed gravel trails.

I don’t need service and hopefully won’t need service but I believe it’s vital for an ebike supplier these days. There are a ton of weird new name ebike brands popping up all the time. I wonder if their business model is the following; Engineer/build a slick looking bike, create a slick video, sell what they can for high profit, avoid service/warranty and eventually change name and repeat cycle. Continuing service shows loyalty to the customer which is important to me.

Hi, did you ever get this issue resolved with customer service and more importantly your battery problem? I’ve not had any problems with my batteries (have 2 step-thru’s) I take the batteries out all the time as I don’t have a garage. I’d be pissed too if they failed to respond quickly. I’ve never called the number just did the online thing. Seems like every other business with not enough customer support.
cheers
