Just to confirm, you did screw the valve back in after inflating?
OK - I have a bit more patience now and appologize for my tome earlier. What I did was buy some adapters that screw onto the Presta valve and allow you to use a normal air chuck and have caps. On the wive's bike, the front went fine, the rear leaked badly the entire time I was filling. So I have the proper air in the front, the rear I can't measure but it feels almost the same as the front. Then my bike came and both front and rear leaked while filling. Again, no measurement on the actual pressure, but feels close. This is the best I have been able to do. I can buy a dedicated Presta pump, but there is no real place to carry it on the bike and if you are out somewhere, you are then screwed. This is the reason I was hoping to convert.

I might end up buying regular tubes and drilling the rims for a long term solution. There really is no reason for Presta valves on thes wheels at 30 psi!
