Hi all,

I have just achieved 1,000 KM (621 miles) on my bike.

Only I have a problem with the rear wheel. The rear wheel is now loose for the second time within 1,000 km.

Are there more people with this problem? I don't think finding a bicycle mechanic who will fix my rear wheel every time (every 2 months / 400 km / 250 mile) is a good solution.

Is it a self locking nut that loosens? Has anyone tried blue loctite to prevent the nut from loosening ? You have not posted a photo, I am simply guessing, which I hate doing on any repair.

I understand, here are the pictures.

When I press against the rear wheel I can see the brake disc moving between the pads. This is not the case with the front wheel, where there is no movement in the brake disc between the brake pads.

Serial 1 is doing the right thing. Easy repair that should work . If you want, there is a gel marker paint that is used on race vehicles which is laid across the bolt head or nut. If the painter line does not line up, you know for sure the bolt, nut has loosened. Should be able to locate a tube online but Pegasus Auto Parts.com definitely has it in various colors. I prefer orange or red. Just a thought.

@Tonyg Yes, I am very happy with the service from Serial 1. I am also still very happy with my bike! I live in the Netherlands so I cannot order from Pegasus Auto Parts (I can, but the minimum order value is a bit too much), but we also have options here to get Loctite ;)

There are automotive, motorcycle and aircraft parts houses in the Netherlands. I’m sure other companies make a similar product. If you have Amazon in the Netherlands they also carry this Tamper Detection Marker, Vibra-Tite 202 Viz Torque. Cheers !!
